On June 26th, 11 Montclair Rowing athletes and their coaches will board a plane for England to train and compete on the famous course at Henley-on-Thames in England. A Montclair Rowing eight boat will compete for the Thames Challenge Cup in the Henley Royal Regatta, and two alternates who will row in the international Spare Pair competition at Henley. 

Their trip is made possible by generous support from Montclair businesses and Montclair Rowing friends, fans, and families. Please see the list of "Montclair to Henley" sponsors below. In addition to these sponsor, over 100 contributors gave amounts ranging from $15 - $100. All funds raised go directly to support the cost of sending the athletes and coaches to compete at Henley. 

Nine of the
 eleven athletes heading to Henley come fresh from an extraordinary, record-setting season for Montclair Crew, including nine NJ State Championship titles, both the Boys and Girls State Points for the second consecutive year, four Stotesbury gold medals, plus overall highest points at Stotes, and two National championships. Two members of the eight are Montclair Crew alumni who have been rowing at the collegiate level. Bid to Name the Boat!
That's right, we're accepting bids for the right to name the eight boat at Henley.
Send your bid directly to the team via
Minimum bid: $2500. All bids are due by departure day, June 26th, 5 pm. The winner will be announced as the athletes' flight takes off for England. The eight will be christened at Henley, and your name 
will grace the bow during all competitions. You will also be named the eight's official Boat Sponsor.

Support the Montclair to Henley Car Wash: Father's Day Weekend! Saturday, June 16th, 1-5 p.m. (rain date, Sunday, June 17) at Montclair High School's George Inness Annex, 141 Park Street. The athletes will be there to wash your car while you sample treats from their Bake Sale, co-sponsored by The Little Daisy Bake Shop of Montclair. Try our signature cookie or a freshly grilled hot dog!

Contributors of $35 or more will receive a thank you postcard signed and sent by one of the athletes at Henley.

of $50 or more will receive all of the thanks above, plus the athletes will bake and contribute a dozen cookies or brownies to Toni's Kitchen in Montclair in your name.

Contributors of $100 or more will receive a postcard directly from Henley, signed by the athletes during the regatta, plus a photo of the eight or the pair at Henley.

Port Sponsors, 
$250 and above will receive all the thanks above, be recognized as Montclair to Henley Sponsorsand receive a Henley photo of the eight or the pair signed by the athletes, and be invited to a "Welcome Home" soiree at Nereid after the athletes return.

Starboard Sponsors,  $500 and above will receive all the thanks above, plus a 1/2 hour rowing lesson from one of the Montclair coaches and a row with the Boys Varsity Eight on the famed Passaic River, launching from their training location at Nereid Boat Club in Rutherford, New Jersey.

Sweep Sponsors, $1000 and above, will receive a 1/2 hour rowing lesson from one of the Montclair coaches and an hour's row with the Boys Varsity Eight on the famed Passaic River from their training location at Nereid Boat Club in Rutherford, New Jersey.

Royal Sponsors$2500 and above, will receive all of the thanks above, plus your contribution of $2500 or more (if received before June 26th, 5 pm) will automatically be entered in the "Bid to Name The Eight boat at Henley." The winner will be announced as the athletes' flight takes off for England. The eight will be christened at Henley, and your name will grace the bow during all competitions. The winning bidder will also be named the eight's official Boat Sponsor.

The eight includes members of the Montclair varsity boat that won the 2017 and 2018 Garden State Champions, Stotesbury Cup Champions, SRAA Nationals Champions, and the 2018 Mid-Atlantic Youth Champions, coxswain Julianna Langhorn and stroke Henry Vecchione, plus Kenny Coplan, Owen King, Alex Abuhoff, Max Pursche, Djoume Traore,  plus Montclair Crew alumnui Kjel Schlemmer (currently rowing at St. Joseph's) and Jamie Pew (currently rowing for University of Michigan)

The pair are Patrick Schroeder (starboard) and Theo Weil (port) will travel as alternates and row in the adult pairs event at Henley. Patrick and Theo row on the boys second varsity, which captured the Garden State Championship, and silver medals at Stotesbury and SRAA National Championships this spring. 

The coaches: Jeremy Michalitsianos, Lorna Rundle, Julian Canha, and Reuben Mann will accompany the team.

We must cover the cost of boat rental for the pair and the eight, Steward's badges for the athletes to enter the finish line viewing area with other competitors, overnight accommodations for the athletes and two assistant coaches, ground transportation, and entry fees -- that's even before we can offset the families' costs of flying the athletes to London.

In a sport dominated by private schools, the Montclair High School Rowing Team broke records again this year:

SRAA National Championships: Boys 1V8, Gold; Girls JV8, Gold; Boys 2V8, Silver.
Stotesbury Cup: Highest overall team points; Boys V8, Gold; Girls Varsity 4+, Gold; Girls VLightweight 4, Gold; Boys 2V8, Silver; Girls JV8, Silver; Boys JV8, Bronze.
Garden State Championships: For the second year in a row, Montclair boys and girls were overall points trophy winners: State Champions are Boys 1V8, Gold; Girls V4, Gold; Boys 2V8, Gold; Girls VLwt4, Gold; Boys JV8, Gold; Girls JV8, Gold; Boys Freshman8, Gold; Girls Freshman8, Gold; Girls Novice4, Gold; also medaling: Girls JV4x, Silver; Boys Novice4, Bronze; Girls Freshman4x, Bronze
Mid-Atlantic Championships: Boys 1V8, 1st place
